Final Course Reflection
I learned tons of new information about technology throughout this course. Overall I am not great at technology, but I feel that my weakest point is quickly doing things that deal with technology. I noticed that my peers finished most assignments more quickly than I did. I'm sure the more practice I get with the tools learned about in class the quicker I will get. I am also not very good at finding public domain images. I can never seem to find exactly what I am looking for, and even when I do I cannot figure out whether or not the artist wants credit. I feel I am strong at making photostories. I really enjoyed the project and found it very easy. I also found all of the web tools easy to use. I feel that I overall need more practice using the technology tools I learned about this semester to become proficient at using them. I definitely plan on using many things I learned about in this class in the classroom. I will use the assistive technology for disabled students. I will use photostories and concept maps to make lessons more interesting. Lastly, I will use blogs and the class website for communication between parents, students, and other teachers.

NETS-T Standard 5 Reflection
5. Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership
Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources. Teachers:
a. participate in local and global learning communities to explore creative applications of technology to improve student learning
b. exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and technology skills of others
c. evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of student learning
d. contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community
Reflection:
This standard somewhat sums up IT 365. Everything we did in the class can model engaging in professional growth and leadership. By constantly using different technologies and improving my knowledge on what was learned in this class I can fulfill this standard. It is important for teachers to fulfill this standard to allow students the richest learning experience possible. Students learn how to use technology by watching teachers model and use technology. Also by attending professional development meetings and using blogs and websites teachers can expand and share their knowledge.
Artifacts/Evidence:
Future Learning Goals:
I would like to further my knowledge of technology. As stated in the learning goals section on the other reflections, I would love to generally expand my knowledge on how to use what was learned this semester. I would also like to generally learn how to use computers better, so I can teach my students better.

NETS-T Standard 4 Reflection
4. Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
Teachers understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices. Teachers:
a. advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate documentation of sources
b. address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner-centered strategies and providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and resources
c. promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology and information
d. develop and model cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with colleagues and students of other cultures using digital-age communication and collaboration tools
Reflection:
I learned tons of information about promoting and modeling digital citizenship and responsibility this semester. Almost every assignment this semester required the class to be ethically responsible. I was taught how to find public domain photos and sounds that were free to be used and published. I also learned how to site photos if the author or photographer wanted credit. I found this difficult to use but it is very useful information to know. Learning how to use turnitin.com was nice. I might not use this technology much teaching elementary school, but I enjoyed learning how easy it is to catch someone who is plagiarising. This tool might also be difficult to use because it is not free; however, we did learn that google is great for catching plagiarism. All someone must do is type in a phrase they think a student might not have come up with on their own. Using blogs is another important tool I learned to use this semester that correlates to this standard. With blogs teachers and students can gather information and share information with people all around the world. It is a great tool to learn how to use, and it is an easy way to communicate with others.

I learned a lot about being digitally responsible this semester; however, I would love to learn more about finding public domain photos and sounds. I had trouble finding what I was looking for sometimes when doing this. I also had difficulty finding out whether or not the publisher wanted to be credited. I hope that I can learn more about this by using the tools more often. I would also like to learn more about free websites that might be similar to turnitin.com.
NETS-T Standard 3 Reflection
3. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning
Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. Teachers:
a. demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations
b. collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success
and innovation
c. communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats
d. model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning
Reflection:
There were many tools I was taught how to use in this class that fall under standard number three. The class website, blog, and photostory were all used to teach the class how to model digital-age work and learning for students. By having a classroom website parents and students can get involved online together. It also provides and easy, convenient way for parent to check up on what their child is learning. Having a classroom blog is also a great way to model digital-age work and learning. Teachers can either allow her students to participate in creating the blog, or he/she could use the blog to interact with other teachers. Either way creating a blog is a great way for students and teachers to interact with others throughout the world or US. Not only did I learn how to use blogs, but I have also learned that great information can be found on others blogs. It is a free way to get lesson or any other teaching ideas. I lastly learned that photostories are a great way to model a digital-age work and learning. Students can work together to create a photostory that can be posted on the classroom website or blog to share what they learned on a field trip or during a thematic unit. They can also be made by the teacher to introduce topics or to sum up lessons. Overall I feel that I learned how to really model and collaborate technologically with others throughout the course of this class.

In the future I would love to become more proficient in creating blogs, websites, and photostories. I learned a lot this semester about these tools; however, I know there is a lot more that can be learned. I would like to learn how to personalize blogs and websites more by adding more pictures and by setting up different formats. I really feel that using these tools in a classroom is very important, so I know I will use what I have learned. I also know I will learn more about these tools.
NETS-T Standard 2 Reflection
2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS•S. Teachers:
a. design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity
b. develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress
c. customize and personalize learning activities to address students’ diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources
d. provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching
Reflection:
I knew nothing about creating digital learning experiences and assessments at the beginning of the semester. I was very excited when I learned that rubrics, quizzes, worksheets, and puzzles could be created on the internet. The web tools were very easy to learn to use, and they were very quick to work with. I could see them being very useful when I am very busy when I first begin teaching. I also learned how to accommodate a copious amount of learners in this class. The assistive technology was so simple to learn how to use, and it will be an easy tool to accommodate visually, aurally, and motor skills impaired students. Not only is assistive technology easy to use, but it comes standard on most computers. It is almost a free way to accommodate all students. I am so glad that I learned how to create digital aged learning experiences and assessments in this class, because I know that this knowledge will be very useful when I begin teacher. The tools I learned to use in this class will save me time and money in the classroom.

Future Learning Goals:
I learned a lot of information this semester about creating a digital age learning experience and assessments. I would really like to learn more about using web tools to create assessments and worksheets. I have tried to create math quizzes on the internet, and I was not successful. So, I hope to gather more knowledge about using different web tools to create tests. I would also like to learn more about how to assist students using technology. I am sure this class just scratched the surface when I comes to assistive technology, and I would love to expand my knowledge.

NETS-T Standard 1 Reflection
1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Teachers:
A. promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness
B. engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources
C. promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes
D. model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments
Reflection:
I am not great with computers; however, this class has taught me many new technology skills. I have learned how to use many tools that make it possible to integrate technology into every subject. I have also learned how to foster students interest and promote reflection using technology. The knowledge I gained from this class on the use of concept mapping gave me a great understanding of how to promote student reflection. Concept maps give visual reminders for students, and they force students to think and reflect on the lesson to gain more information. I also learned many ways to grab students’ attention with technology. Photo stories are a great way to creatively teach a topic. Using Photostories in the classroom address many of Gardner’s types of learners. It gives students something to view, read, and something to listen to. It is also great for students with disabilities, because words can be listened to and viewed. It also facilitates learning to read, because it includes visual and sounded words. Several projects we completed and tools we learned about in this class “facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity.”
Artifacts/Evidence:
Future Learning Goals:
I have learned an abundance of useful information about how to facilitating and inspiring student learning and creativity throughout this class; however, I have not had the opportunity to use and of the information learned yet. I have learned that engage or inspire students when technology is integrated into the classroom. I learned how to create a Photostory which is a great tool for grasping students attention. I will also use technology to promote reflection in the classroom. Students will be given outlines of information, and they will be asked to tell about all of the parts based on what they have already learned. Even though, I have learned to use many tools to meet this technology standards, I know once I begin teaching I will learn about many more.
